St. Albert Minor Baseball Association needs to recruit officials into the game of baseball with the greatest need being to support House League at 11U, 13U, 15U, and 18U Levels.
The house league baseball season starts at the beginning of May and finishes at the end of June. League games are normally held on weeknights and tournaments are played on weekends. There is a mid-season and year end tournament for both the 11U and 13U divisions. Umpires will likely work as many games a week as they are able as the shortage of baseball officials in this area is quite severe. To become a baseball umpire you must attend a clinic, pass an exam, and obtain adequate equipment.
As the house league teams are being formed, parents are being asked to step forth and fill various roles such as coach or team manager. The role of umpire is just as critical to ensuring that your children can participate in the wonderful game of baseball. We’re calling on interested parents to step up and take on the role of umpire as well. We are sure that you will find the work to be challenging and rewarding and that it will help you to grow as both an official and a person.
